Lot Essay

The GM monogram is that of The Prince George, Duke of Kent and Princess Marina Duchess of Kent. These rugs were almost certainly made to celebrate their marriage in 1934. J.M. Pontremoli (1888-1952) of Spring Street, London produced a range of needlework carpets in historical styles during the first half of the 20th century.
