Shaped circular and with matted shell and scroll border, the centre engraved with presentation inscription, marked on reverse and stamped 'INDUSTRIA PERUANA PLATA ESTERLING 925
15¾ in. (40 cm.) diam.
The inscription reads 'LA COMPAñIA DE AVIACION "DAUCETT" A SU ALTEXA REAL LA DUQUESA DE KENT EN RECUERDO DE SU VIAJE LIMA - CUZCO 25-2-959'.
Provenance
Presented to Princess Marina, Duchess of Kent (1906-1968) in Peru during her South American tour.

Lot Essay

Princess Marina and Princess Alexandra were to have flown from Lima to Cuzco to take a trip through the Andes on the Cuzco to Arequipa railway but a railway workers strike prevented the journey taking place. The inscription relates to the proposed journey.
