CIRCA 1952
Shaped oblong and with foliage and flower chased sides, the face with rotating dials for day, month and date, engraved with an inscription
11 in. (28 cm.) high
The inscription reads 'PRESENTED TO H.R.H. THE DUCHESS OF KENT BY HIS HIGHNESS OMAR ALI SAIFUDDIN SULTAN OF BRUNEI 1952'.
Provenance
Presented to Princess Marina, Duchess of Kent (1906-1968) by Omar Ali Saifuddin, Sultan of Brunei (r.1950-1967), on her visit to the country in October 1952.

Lot Essay

On her arrival in Brunei, the Duchess of Kent was met at the wharf by the Sultan and she was carried on a ceremonial litter supported by thirty men to the Council Chamber.
