Emma Marie de Polignac (1858-1936) was the youngest daughter of Jules Armand Jean Melchior, Duc de Polignac (1817-1890) and Marie Louise Amélie de Berton des Balbes (1823-1904). She is the great-granddaughter of Yolande, Duchesse de Polignac, favourite of Queen Marie-Antoinette, and her husband, Jules, Duc de Polignac.
