Lot Essay

Manuel Cipriano Gomes Mafra (1830-1905) was one of leading ceramicists in Caldas da Rainha for over 30 years. He is known for compositions which depict fierce life and death struggles as compared to the tranquil pond life depicted by his contemporaries.
