A FINE AND RARE PRESENTATION QUALITY .44 HENRY RIMFIRE SMITH & WESSON MODEL 3 (RUSSIAN SECOND MODEL) SINGLE-ACTION REVOLVER, SPECIAL TURKISH MODEL, EARLY PRODUCTION

With 7in. round barrel with standard S & W patent markings up to Aug.24.69, humpbacked grip-strap, spurred trigger-guard and grips of rounded contour, the grips faced with sheet silver decorated with pricked and roll-engraved foliage and border ornament, the left grip stamped in 1917 with British Cypriot firearms registration numbers, case-hardened hammer, the remaining major componants richly decorated with Turkish gold-damascened scrollwork on a blued ground, involving the national star and crescent on both sides of the barrel and the damascener's signature 'Am'al Arat' on the top, matching numbers, and retaining nearly all of its original damascened and blued finish throughout, perhaps unfired: in its original Turkish soft leather holster and sold together with four British Cypriot customs and firearms registration documents, 1917-1942

Provenance
The revolver was imported from Turkey to Cyprus by Ahmed Vassif Eff and licensed accordingly 2nd March 1917.
The revolver was subsequently sold to the present owner's grandfather and later deposited with the British Cypriot Police within the period 1933-1942.
