by the Imperial Porcelain Factory, St Petersburg, period of Nicholas I, circa 1840
Circular, the centre painted with stylized foliage and blue flowerheads, around a red rosette, on black ground with leaf-tip border, surrounded by stylized green fir-tree branches in arched reserves, on a ciselé gilt ground, the gilt rim painted in pink and green to simulate jewels, marked under base with dark blue Cyrillic monogram 'N I' beneath the Imperial Russian crown
