A Porcelain Tete-A-Tete Tea Service
by the Popov Factory, Moscow, 1840
Comprising a bulbous covered coffee-pot on spreading foot with a flared rim, gilt spout, the scroll handle with wing detail, a bulbous covered sugar bowl on spreading foot with two short handles, two cylindrical cups with flared rims and scroll handles, two circular saucers, and one shaped rectangular tray, each with turquoise painted lower body, the saucers and tray with turquoise centre, the white ground with a continuous stylized gilt foliate border, with gilt rims, each marked with dark blue underground Cyrillic monogram 'AP'
Tea-pot 5 3/8 in. (13.8 cm.) high with handle, sugar bowl 4 7/8 in. (12.5 cm.) high, each cup 3 1/8 in. (8 cm.) high with handle, each saucer 5 1/8 in. (12.9 cm.) diameter, tray 12 3/8 in. (31.5 cm.) long, 9 3/8 in. (23.8 cm.) wide (7)
