SAFAVID IRAN, LATE 16TH/EARLY 17TH CENTURY
Gouache and ink on paper heightened with gold, depicting a youth seated on a branch in a pastoral landscape, wearing a blue and gold turban, a hawk resting on his left gloved hand, a rabbit escaping to the left at his feet, laid down between blue and gold-speckled black paper borders on gold illuminated blue card margins, a line of black nasta'liq and a gold and polychrome illuminated panel laid down above and below, the reverse with 14ll. of black nasta'liq organized in two columns between similarly gold illuminated margins, very slight scuffing, staining and losses to margins
