Gouache heightened with gold on paper, Layla and an emaciated Majnun supported by a crutch sit beneath a tall tree attended by a maidservent holding a flywhisk, before them stand and sit animals, some in pairs and some alone including a saddled camel held by a servant, behind them a rich walled palace sits on the horizon behind a silvery lake, small areas of scuffing, laid down on yellow card
