A GERMAN ENGRAVED COW HORN POWDER-FLASK; AN ENGRAVED HORN PRIMING-FLASK; A SMALL HORN POWDER-FLASK; AND TWO ITALIAN PRIMING-FLASKS IN LATE 16TH CENTURY STYLE

The first with compressed body, the outer face decorated with figures from Roman mythology, the inner face with spirals of scrolling foliage involving a monster, fitted with plain iron mounts, iron nozzle with spring cut-off and four rings for suspension; The second with compressed body, the lower half engraved with arrangements of flowers; The third fitted with brass mounts (the nozzle cruedly repaired); The remaining two each bearing the Medici arms, one of iron encrusted with silver and embossed with the bust of Catherine de Medici on the reverse, and the other of bronze cast in high relief and involving a series of grotesques
