A RARE FAMILLE ROSE HAT STAND
QIANLONG PERIOD (1736-1795)

Finely enamelled around the spherical top section with lotus blooms borne on feathery leafy stems arranged around four evenly spaced ruyi-shaped apertures all reserved on a pale lime-green ground between ruyi and foliate scroll borders, the columnar baluster shaft gilt with foliate and ruyi scroll on a cafe-au-lait ground above the domed base decorated with registers of pendant lappets, stylised blooms and further ruyi on coloured grounds

Compare with a Qianlong-marked famille rose revolving hat stand of similar form in the National Palace Museum, Taipei, included in the exhibition Stunning Decorative Porcelains from the Ch'ien-lung Reign, National Palace Museum, Taipei, 2008 and illustrated in the Catalogue, pp.212-213, no. 75.
