Lot Essay

This unusual figure possibly depicts Christophe Kirshe, the jester companion to Joseph Fröhlic. For a similar figure see Len and Yvonne Adams, Meissen Portrait Figures (London, 1987), p. 39, fig. XVI, and see p. 203 for an example of the same figure dressed as Harlequin.
