Each painted by Nicholas-Marie Moriot with artists in interiors, titled Fr. RIBALTA achève en secret un tableau de son Maître pour obtenir la main de sa fille. and AL SANCHEZ. le Roi PHILIPPE II venant le voir travailler l'empêche de se lever, the first signed Mo., the second signed Moriot, within oval cartouches with green and gilt strapwork borders, the arabesque ground painted and gilt by Alexis-Etienne Julienne with scrolling foliage between lappet sections suspending tassels in shades of claret, blue and green, the ormolu handles formed as acanthus leaves issuing reeded scrolls entwined with fruiting vines, the vases supported by flared socles cast with lappets enclosing geometric foliate ornament, on square plinth bases (each with minor rim chip below mounts, minor wear to gilding)

The present vases entered the Sèvres showrooms on 19 February 1846. The sale price for one vase was 1,800 Francs and the Sèvres archives record that the decorators, Julienne and Moriot were paid 640 Francs and 250 Francs respectively for their work on these vases.
