拍品專文

Stemcups with this design reflect the Qianlong emperor's interest in Lamaist Buddhism, which flourished during his reign. Not only were there a number of Lamaist temples in Beijing, a copy of the Tibetan Potala Palace was built at Chengde.

A similar stemcup is in the National Palace Museum, Taiwan, included in the Special Exhibition of K'ang-hsi, Yung-cheng and Ch'ien-lung Porcelain Ware from the Ch'ing Dynasty, Taiwan 1986, illustrated in the Catalogue, no. 69; see also the one sold in our Hong Kong Rooms, 25 October 1993, lot 783.
