Each with carved horn or bone handle and leather lash, comprising: a bamboo crop by Brigg with silver band hallmarked 1912; a varnished wood crop with white-metal band engraved 'Lavinia Spencer Septr. 29th 1905'; a presentation cane crop by Bair with white-metal band engraved 'RAJKOTE STATE PADDOCK, OPENED NOVR. 25 1897 BY H.E. LORD SANDHURST, GOVERNOR OF BOMBAY'; a cane crop; another cane crop with silver band hallmarked 1912 and engraved 'L.E.S.'; a cased leather crop with two gold-plated bands one engraved 'A' with viscount's coronet; a bamboo crop with silver band engraved 'C.S' and hallmarked 1901; another hallmarked 1903 and engraved 'Cecil Spencer Xmas 1903'; another broken example engraved 'A' and dated 7th July 1931; a leather crop by Callow with two silver bands hallmarked 1898 and engraved with 'S' and an earl's coronet; and another by Merry with silver band engraved 'U.A.S.'

Provenance
The presentation crop sent to Althorp in 1934 by Eleanor, Viscountess Sandhurst (d. December 1934) who was the second wife of Viscount Sandhurst, whose first wife was Lady Victoria Spencer (1855-1906), sister of the 5th and 6th Earls Spencer.
