TWO HARDSTONE SWORD FITTINGS
SPRING AND AUTUMN PERIOD/WESTERN HAN DYNASTY, 5TH-2ND CENTURY BC
One a circular pommel, carved on the top with a central whorl motif surrounded by a field of scrolls repeated on the conical underside that tapers to the small cylindrical socket, the stone of russet brown and opaque buff color; the other a sword guard of lozenge shape, carved on both faceted sides with a taotie mask, the stone of orangey color, with the remains of an iron hilt in the central aperture
