Jacky Ickx
World Sports Car Champion, Team Lotus driver 1974 and 1975. Winner of 8 Grands Prix and five times Le Mans winner. Works Ferrari F1 driver 1970-1973.
Widely recognised as one of the greatest sports-car drivers of all time, his remarkable talent in Formula One cars often overlooked; he once qualified 3rd on the old Nürburgring for a Grand Prix in a Formula Two car! A tally of 40 points-scoring finishes in 116 Grands Prix: 13 Pole Positions and 8 victories.
Due to his varied programme while driving for Team Lotus, they kept his race-wear on the transporter, so to honour his promise of a helmet, donated one from his Ferrari period. This 1973 Bell is not lined with Nomex; fitted with a dark visor, it carries the revised display of his name which was changed after 1972. In 1973 after coming into Formula One only the previous year, Marlboro sponsored Jacky, and the sticker is black on a white ground, later changed to white pre-spaced letters directly on the famous dark blue helmet.
