Lot Essay

Louis-Denis Armand is recorded at Vincennes and Sèvres 1745-1788 as a painter of birds, animals, landscapes and figures. However, it is his finely executed bird painting for which he is primarily known. The lacy interlaced L's on the bottom of the tub and the quality of the painting support the attribution to this recently identified painter.
