BLUE INTERLACED L'S ENCLOSING DATE LETTER I FOR 1761 AND PAINTER'S MARK FOR NOËL TO EACH, INCISED 1, BACKWARDS 3 AND GC, RESPECTIVELY
Painted in bright colors with a flower spray reserved against the rose marbré ground within a chased gilt border, the square tray with everted gallery pierced with Vitruvian scrolls edged in gilt and issuing harebells, the cup and saucer with gilt dentil rims

Guillaume Noël, recorded at Sèvres as a painter of flowers and patterns, 1755-1800.

Further research in the Sèvres archives should reveal the original sales records for this exquisite example of a rose marbré cup, cover and square tray.
