A FRENCH 17.1mm 'MLE.1822' PERCUSSION CAVALRY SERVICE PISTOL
CHATELLERAULT ARSENAL, SERIAL NO. 997, CONVERTED TO PERCUSSION IN 1859
With sighted tapering barrel marked with '1859' conversion date, iron tang engraved 'MLE. 1822 BIS' and also incorporating the rear-sight, flat bevelled lock with rounded tail engraved 'MRE. IMP.ALE DE CHATELLERAULT', walnut half-stock with inspection marks opposite the lock, long iron back-strap, brass mounts including pommel with iron lanyard ring, and iron ramrod with matching serial number; together with A .69 FLINTLOCK SERVICE PISTOL OF EIC TYPE, ALMOST CERTAINLY BELGIAN, EARLY 19TH CENTURY, with tapering barrel, rounded lock, walnut full stock, brass mounts, and iron lanyard ring
