AN UNUSUAL GILT-COPPER (TOMBAK) MOUNTED BEYKOZ GLASS INCENSE BURNER
OTTOMAN TURKEY, 19TH CENTURY
The opaque blue glass body formed by an inverted Beykoz rosewater sprinkler, the foot inset in the rounded base, the lip with a cusped mount, the pierced domed lid with floral medallions, tapering towards a tall finial and opening to reveal a shallow container for embers, hinged to the curving handle joining the lip to the base, the engraved decoration with floral scrolls around the base, the glass with remains of gilt and floral decoration
