The Japanese calibre octagonal barrel terminating in a bulbous muzzle decorated with brass inlay along the ribs and with braided copper and brass wires at the neck; the sight line set with a fixed and a bar sight; the back of the barrel inlaid in gold and silver hirazogan with a dokotsuken flanked by two Chinese-style archaic dragons; behind the fixed sight are two archaic-style kanji reading seihen [to control emergencies] and a Tokugawa aoi-mon; the underside of the barrel signed Inoue Kansaemon saku Toshitsugu with kao; the one-piece wood stock fitted with plain brass furniture and the pegholes set with brass sakura
