Francis Perigal, the son of a clockmaker, was apprenticed in 1778 and a Freeman of the Clockmakers Company in 1786. He was a Liveryman 1787-1793. See also lot 84.

CASE: pierced side frets and brass stop-fluted columns to hood, conforming quarter columns to trunk, panelled plinth, double skirting DIAL: 12 in. wide brass dial with foliate spandrels to silvered chapter ring, matted centre with subsidiary seconds, date square, cartouche signed 'FRANS PERIGAL/ROYAL EXCHANGE/LONDON', strike/silent to arch, blued steel hands MOVEMENT: five pillars, anchor escapement and rack strike on bell, repeat signature to back plate; pendulum, two brass weights
