A GREEK POTTERY LIDDED PYXIS
GEOMETRIC PERIOD, CIRCA MID 8TH CENTURY B.C.
Circular in form, with a rounded body and a flat base, the rim flanged on the interior, the body decorated with black-painted ornament, including narrow bands between zigzag and dotted lines, a broad band above the base, the disk lid with a high-knobbed finial and concentric bands around the rim, the lid and interior rim of the bowl with two sets of corresponding twin perforations
6¼ in. (15.8 cm.) high
Provenance
Acquired by the father of the current owner and brought to South America in 1950-1951.
