Lot Essay

An apparently unrecorded order of Johan Louis van Hardenbroeck, who commanded seven warships 1715-31 and was admitted into the Utrecht nobility in 1734, and commissioned the well-known eggshell dishes with this coat-of-arms. See Dr. J. Kroes, op. cit., pp. 259-60.
