A cloisonné-enamel table ornament (okimono)
Meiji period (late 19th century)
Of globe form on three short, cylindrical legs, decorated in various colored enamels, goldstone highlights and silver wires, with four shaped panels alternately containing a phoenix and foliate pattern bordered in turquoise and over an orange enamel and goldstone ground, the top face with a roundel containing a coiled dragon surrounded in bands of geometric and foliate scroll and lappets, all on a ground of vertical bands interspersed with butterflies and alternately containing foliate scroll and chrysanthemums over stylized clouds with dark-green and mottled-cream grounds respectively; mounts brass
