Lot Essay

The carved decoration on this meiping is very rare. However, a qingbai meiping of Southern Song date, carved with similar decoration, is illustrated in the catalogue for the exhibition, Two Thousand Years of Chinese Ceramics, Japan, 1992, p. 59, no. 50.
