ZHENGDE SIX-CHARACTER MARK IN UNDERGLAZE BLUE WITHIN A DOUBLE CIRCLE AND OF THE PERIOD (1506-1521)
The shallow rounded sides flaring to a slightly everted rim from the tapered ring foot, covered inside and out with a glaze of rich egg yolk-yellow color
8¼ in. (21 cm.) diam.

Lot Essay

For a similar dish see J. Harrison-Hall, Ming Ceramics in the British Museum, London, 2001, p. 205, no. 8:27, where the author notes that this type of yellow glaze is often well-worn. Slightly smaller dishes with similar glaze were sold in these rooms, 17 September 2008, lot 2027 and 19 March 2008, lot 578.
