The high rounded shoulder applied with four loop handles and the body well painted with a prunus tree growing amidst bamboo, a rose growing beside a rock to one side of the trunk and butterflies in flight on the reverse, with single and double line borders around the base of the short neck with lipped rim, with two rectangular slits above the foot

Lot Essay

A very similar vase, also dated to the Yongzheng period, was sold as one of a pair, Sotheby's, Hong Kong, 28-29 November 1979, lot 164. Another from the collection of Edward T. Chow sold at Sotheby's, Hong Kong, 4 May 1994, lot 163, and again at Christie's, Hong Kong, 28 November 2006, lot 1537, is illustrated by Julian Thompson, The Alan Chuang Collection of Chinese Porcelain, Hong Kong, 2009, no. 35.
