Persian manuscript on paper, two calligraphic panels, each with 4ll. of elegant nasta'liq, one with text on gold speckled ground and signature of Muhammad Zaman al-Tabrizi, the other panel with text on ground with gold-highlighted bird and vegetal shapes, each panel with gold and polychrome illumination with borders comprising calligraphic cartouches and mounted on associated gilt decorated paper, each with minor rubbing

Lot Essay

Muhammad Zaman al-Tabrizi, who was originally from Kirman but grew up in Tabriz, is recorded by Qadi Ahmad as a scribe of manuscripts as well as calligraphic pages, (V. Minorsky, A Treatise by Qadi Ahmad Son of Mir Munshi, Calligraphers and Painters, translated by V. Minorsky, Washington, 1959, p. 166). A calligraphic album signed by the same calligrapher was sold in these Rooms, 06 October 2009, lot 79.
