SAFAVID IRAN, 16TH AND 17TH CENTURY
Persian manuscript on paper, two calligraphic panels, one panel with 4ll. of gold nastaliq within blue-outlined clouds reserved against a ground of floral sprays and vine issuing elegant curling leaves, within black and gold rules and mounted on buff card, the other panel with 4ll. of black nasta'liq in cusped clouds, within black and polychrome rules and a border of red and green floral vine, laid down on gold sprinkled card, areas of staining, the reverse of each with pencil markings and an old trade label
