Qilins, a Chinese mythical beast that is part dragon, lion and deer, are regarded as symbols of longevity and steadfastness. Emblematic of high official rank, these magnificant beasts are often used in Chinese art as wishes and blessings for a successful civil career and good governance by those in power.
