On this piece the model's image is displayed as the subject of desire and as an object of prey. The shadows that the spider-web firmly projects into the wall create a flocal point that sends our view directly to the shining sex of a naked youth, wrapped only by the shadows immersed in a fantastic and nocturnal ambiance. More than the sensual tension that the image may arouse in the viewer, Spider suggests a progression of the sentimental eroticism clearly manifested in the early works by Pierre et Gilles, towards a more open, in-your-face sexuality like that of their later oeuvres.
