A GEORGE II IRISH PROVINCIAL SILVER SALVER
MARK OF JOSEPH JOHNS, LIMERICK, CIRCA 1750
Shaped circular and on three shell feet, with reeded scroll border, engraved and chased with foliage scrolls, shells and flowers centring a crest, marked underneath with maker's mark and stamped 'Sterling', further engraved with a scratchweight '19-9' and a later scratchweight '19 oz. 3'
9¼ in. (23.4 cm.) diam.
18 oz. (574 gr.)
The crest is possibly that of Adams as borne by the Adams family of Annagurrah, near Ballylanders, co. Limerick.
