The portraits of Miss Joanna and Miss Lisa Yorke were commissioned by their father F.R.S. Yorke, the English Modernist architect. Yorke formed YRM in 1944, with Eugene Rosenberg and Cyril Mardall, one of Britain's most successsful post-war architectural practices who famously designed Gatwick Airport.
