The exterior deeply carved in high relief to depict a scholar wearing a loose robe reclining on a day-bed, one hand holding up a book, within an opening under the shade of a aged pine tree and beside ornamental rocks, further detailed with a standing attendent fanning a stove below a teapot, one side inscribed Jiacheng chun Sansong zuo, 'Made in the Spring of the Jiacheng cyclical year (1604) made by Sansong'
