Lot Essay

There are very few Qianlong-marked examples of this pattern, which continued from a Yongzheng convention of delicately carved and subtly glazed dishes. An almost identical Qianlong-marked pair was sold at Christie's Hong Kong, 31 March 1992, lot 583.

Compare also with a Yongzheng-marked example in the National Palace Museum, Taipei, illustrated by Liu Liang-yu, Ch'ing Office And Popular Wares, Taipei, 1991, p. 128; and another sold at Sotheby's Hong Kong, 2 May 2000, lot 528.
