Provenance
By repute Honeylands House, Devon, probably supplied to John Bussell, an attorney who was in residence during the early 19th century and was most likely responsible for rebuilding the property.

Lot Essay

Though no specific design for this bookcase has been found among Gillows' drawings, nor references to Honeylands or Russell, the simple design, high quality figured mahogany, and particularly the moulded pilasters are characteristic of the firm's work of this period.
