Of square section and irregular shape, carved in low relief around the sides with a scene of a farmer approaching a small dwelling nestled beside a wutong tree at the base of a mountain which forms the upper part of the seal, the seal face uncarved

Lot Essay

The inner cover has an inscription: 'Cold Tianhuang Seal, Chunzhai collection', followed by the collection seal of Xu Hanqing.

Shoushan lienjianhuang is a kind of Shoushan soapstone found in the mountainous regions of Shoushan and Yueyang.
