A RARE SHOUSHAN AIYELU SOAPSTONE RECTANGULAR SEAL
QING DYNASTY (1644-1911)
The undecorated rectangular block of rich, mottled, dark emerald-green color flecked with fine buff and golden-buff markings, with satiny polish, the seal face carved with six characters, Yi xin zi you qian gu (I hold the ancients within my heart)

Lot Essay

A paper label on the box is inscribed Ailu shi zhang (Ailu stone seal).
Aiyelu is a rare type of soapstone that comes from Canton, and is sometimes called 'Canton green'.
