Paulus Bramer en Soon, Amsterdam, Second half 18th century
The case of typical form, the double arched hood surmounted by carved giltwood figural finials, the trunk door with brass lenticle depicting the Rape of Europa, the plinth base with canted corners and on bun feet. The engraved brass arched dial with painted moonphase and C-scrolled and trellis spandrels, the engraved and matted centre with subsidiary second ring flanked by month and day sectors and date aperture above VI, with alarm setting disc, the Roman and Arabic chapter ring signed Paulus Bramer En Soon Amsterdam. The five pillar movement with anchor escapement and Dutch strike on two bells, alarm mounted to the side; with two brass weights, door key and pendulum
