A MINTONS PATE-SUR-PATE OLIVE-GREEN TWO-HANDLED VASE
DATE CYPHER FOR 1890, GILT CROWNED GLOBE AND IMPRESSED UPPERCASE MARKS, AND SHAPE NO. 1722, SIGNED WITH AN LB MONOGRAM FOR LAWRENCE BIRKS
Of classic form, the cylindrical neck decorated in polychrome pâte-sur-pâte with anthemion flanked by gilt enriched loop handles, the body finely painted and hand-tooled in white slip with a scantily draped maiden seated in a flowering tree, holding a torchere, the flanking putti with musical instruments, the obverse similarly composed the central maiden seated among oak branches holding a sheaf of wheat and a scythe, the circular foot molded and enriched with a Vitruvian scroll
