The editio princeps of this series of thirteen subjects, today at the Museum voor Schone Kunsten in Ghent, was delivered in 1717. The designs varied somewhat over the forty years of production. Jan van Orley (d. 1735) designed a number of tapestry series in the early 18th Century, but in this instance did not design the backgrounds, which were drawn by Aurel Augustin Coppens (d. 1740) (D. Heinz, Europäische Tapisseriekunst des 17. Und 18. Jahrhunderts, Vienna, 1995, pp. 218-219 and p. 232).
