An element of archaistic interest is evident in the present dish in that the glaze resembles pale celadon Longquan glazes of the 12th and 13th Centuries. It is known that reproduction of Longquan glazes was indeed on Tang Ying's 'List of Porcelains Supplied to the Court' of 1729. For a possible prototype of the present dish, compare with a Longquan celadon 'dragon' charger included in the same sale as lot 3020.
