A FINE OTTOMAN 32-BORE MIQUELET-LOCK SPORTING RIFLE
LATE 18TH CENTURY
With three-stage etched twist barrel with turned muzzle and panels of gold-damascened foliage at the muzzle and breech, standing rear-sight, lock with further gold-damascened foliage, three-quarter stock encased with silver panels around the mechanism and on the fore-end, the former decorated in low relief with scrollwork (minor defects) and set with red corals, the latter plain, the butt inlaid with small shaped mother of pearl plaques heightened with brass pins and set with a series of red corals on each side, button trigger, silver barrel-bands mostly decorated in low relief with flowering foliage and set on each side with red corals, and later ramrod (some corals missing throughout, barrel discoloured, barrel-bolt missing)
