the first signed, inscribed and dated 'Blampied/Jersey 41' (centre) and further inscribed '"That ain't tobacco your'e [sic.] smoking Fred?"/-"No - bug'us no - not quite almost/-just leaf mould and 'orse hair."' (lower centre); the second signed, inscribed and dated 'Blampied./Occupation. Jersey. June 1941' (centre left) and further inscribed '"But if I buy The goat I don't know how to milk it."/-"That's easy enough Missie - you just get a 'arf pound/of sausages - that is if you can yet now get them -/to practise [sic.] for a 'arf hour of a time til you get/the knack. Pork butchers made thousands in the last/war selling sausages to practise [sic.] on."/(Conversations overheard.)' (lower centre); and the third signed, inscribed and dated 'Blampied/Jersey.
