Ce rare éventail peut être rapproché d'un autre exemplaire provenant de la collection Hooper et publié par Phelps (Arts and Artefacts of the Pacific, Africa and the Americas, The James Hooper Collection, Londres, 1976, p.138, inv.574). James Hooper l'acheta en 1946 auprès du St. Augustine's Missionary College à Canterbury, qui l'aurait acquis au milieu du XIXème siècle.
