Lot Essay

Peter Schatborn has confirmed the attribution to van der Ulft, based on photographs. For a comparable drawing see A Mediterranean harbour capriccio, with soldiers marching through an arch (Sotheby's, Amsterdam, 11 November 1997, lot 114).
