Each surmounted by a facetted obelisk with a canopy and urn finial above S-scroll branches hung with lustre drops, on a pedestal depicting classical figures and atheniennes, above a plinth with lion mask corner clasps and foliate feet, restorations and replacements

In 1781, William Parker (d.1784) received a patent for candelabra bases of this form and a set of four elaborate candelabra mounted on similar cut and gilt green glass bases were delivered the following year to the 5th Duke of Devonshire at Chatsworth (see M. Mortimer, The English Glass Chandelier, Woodbridge, Suffolk, 2000, p.97, p.43).
